A SAN is a storage area network, consisting of a
shared Fibre Channel Storage subsystem, a FC card in each PC, and SAN
software to arbitrate usage.
A virtual-volume, high-performance SAN solution. Terrablock combines
intelligent drive management software with lower-cost SATA drive technology
and dedicated optical fiber channel connectivity. The result is a system
that delivers performance and reliability to Avid® and Apple® video
editorial workstations like no other on the market.
Capacities range from 2TB to 12TB, with scalability to 24 users and ,
with infinitely selectable mirroring for the highest level of data
protection. A single TerraBlock system can support up to eight dual-stream
uncompressed standard definition clients, or up to twenty four clients at
single stream uncompressed or multi-stream compressed video, like DV25.
Multiple TerraBlock units can support up to 16 streams of uncompressed HD!
TerraBlock is unlike any SAN solution available, and the first affordable
SAN to offer "Server-Direct" architecture that employs the best attributes
of SAN and NAS to create a simple, high-performance system that is easy to
configure and reliable. The base server unit combines the server, storage
and direct connections for fibre clients, avoiding the need for an expensive
external switch.
