Kayo

Kayo transparently enables multiple computers to share NTFS volumes on the SAN storage.

Kayo 3.1 is a volume sharing software for storage area networks (SANs) that allows high-speed data transfers to take place over Fibre Channel. It is a transparent SAN solution using NTFS, which permits users to simultaneously read from the shared volumes on the centralized storage. All users see the volumes on the storage as if they were local.

Write access to the shared volume can be assigned to any server in the workgroup. A server with Kayo installed will automatically acquire and relinquish write access to the storage volume to minimize user interaction. When a user does not write to a volume within a designated time, the volume is automatically released, and write access of this volume becomes available for any other user in the workgroup. Write access can also be transferred manually.

Kayo is very simple to use and is incorporated into the Windows Explorer interface.

Melio FS

Melio FS is a clustered file system which presents shared storage as a single storage pool, enabling shared data access, horizontal scaling of applications, and clustered processing, as well as greatly simplified storage provisioning and management.

Melio FS has been designed specifically for network storage environments to provide shared access to data, high performance and reliability, unlimited scalability, and simple data management.

Servers can share access to Melio FS, unlike typical SANs today which require a separate file system for each server.

It allows concurrent read and write access to files over high -speed fibre channel networks, and improves computing resource flexibility and scalability. It provides users with extensive new capability to utilize shared storage hardware, and simplified administration of the storage.

Melio FS is easy to install, transparent to the user, and the current release supports Windows 2000/XP/2003. It addresses customer needs in workgroup environments, as well as enterprise data centers, and cluster or grid computing applications.  Melio FS enables very scalable single-file- system image NAS systems to be built with Windows Storage server by clustering multiple NAS heads into Melio FS on a SAN. 

LaScala

LaScala™ Clustered Volume Manager Increases Flexibility and Performance of Shared Storage

LaScala is a host-based volume manager that simplifies management and improves flexibility and reliability of shared storage environments. The new volume manager provides greatly improved disk management capability when used as a stand-alone product with native file systems.  When used in a shared environment the SAN-aware volumes can also be shared by multiple servers when used with a clustered file system such as Melio FS or a volume sharing software such as Kayo.

Multiple hosts can simultaneously share access to and administer storage volumes, and volumes can span across multiple storage controllers for improver performance and throughput. Volumes are easily created out of the shared storage pool and uniquely assigned to servers,

 based on native OS security.  The volume manager can apply multiple changes in volume structure simultaneously, such as online volume creation, deletion, parameter modification, resizing by adding additional storage, or adding new hosts to a volume group.
