Attorneys use video for a variety of applications. These
applications include:
Depositions
Courtroom presentations
Digital Signage
Animations
For a law firm, there are several uses of video:
Many depositions are video taped. The deposition is then organized,
and edited, and often put to DVD for use in the courtroom. A properly made
DVD with chapters, etc., allows instant access to critical parts of
testimony.

A second big use of video is for video animations. Video animations
are used to show the jury how an event would have happened – for example,
a plane crash, or a ski lift accident, a car crash, or possible a murder.
Using 3D animation software such as 3DS Max, Maya, Lightwave or Softimage,
the animator recreates the incident on the computer. Then using the video
editing system, the scene is put on videotape or DVD, to be shown to the
jury.
The third big use of video in legal applications is to create a
settlement video. For example, if someone dies in an accident, this video
is a summary of his life, often emotional, and earning power, to be shown
to the opposing side, and eventually in court.
