Technical Tip of the Month - Defragging
You've been using your video editing system for months, and suddenly you have problems capturing video.  Sound familiar?  The common causes of this problem are either a disk that is almost full or one that is fragmented.  If you disk (logical volume) is more than 80% full, you need to delete some files to free up space or use another drive.

If your drive is not full, but your performance is still troublesome, your drives are most likely fragmented.  What is fragmentation?  PCs write sections of files wherever there is physical free space on the drive.  One logical file may be spread over many physical fragments. To defragment your drive, you need to run a Disk Defragmenter.  Some of the Windows versions like XP have a defragmenter, but the best tool to use is Diskeeper.  This is a $50 utility that should be in everyone's toolkit.

Apple Video Systems
Lately, we've seen an increase in the number of Apple based video systems being sold. Why? Some great reasons: Final Cut Pro, Avid Xpress DV for the Mac, Cinewave, Medea arrays, and simplicity of use.  Call or email Videotex, the Apple Certified Video Reseller for Texas.  We're available to discuss your needs.
